Calgary AB Dentist Married 3Hi Class of '81
I can not believe it has been 35 years. It was great seeing and talking to everyone the last reunion and looking forward in doing the same in October. I am married to Jade for 18 years and have three awesome sons, each with their unique personalities.
Brandon(from my first marriage) will be 26 years old in August and graduating from UBC Dental School in June. Thank goodness the bleeding will stop after eight years.Trent my 13 year old going on to 18 is smart, athletic and kind. I am probably being bias. Lastly, Sean my care free 11 year old, just makes me laugh and reminds me of the innocence of life.
I was a workaholic for the last 26 years( thanks to Jade fro being so supportive) and sold my dental practice almost three years ago. I work three days a week( try to) and the rest of the time try to stay in shape, go on holidays and be helpful around the house. I have been blessed with a terrific life and look forward in being part of my kid's life. I have also enjoyed the colonoscopy, shingles vaccine and possibly viagra. As I get older I dread the winters and prefer the warmer destinations. I am grateful for the healthy friends and love ones in my life. Hope to see you all in October.

Airdrie Research Associate Single 4While born at a very young age and raised with family in Calgary, life after high school consisted of a health science degree and then going to SAIT to become a paramedic. After a short stint teaching in both the EMT and Paramedic programs at SAIT, I worked as a flight paramedic with STARS and as a ground paramedic with Calgary and Airdrie. I currently work in a job which I very much enjoy, as a Research Associate for the W21C, the University of Calgary’s, Cumming School of Medicine, Research and Innovation Center (I know, it's a mouthful). My primary focus is patient centered studies which improve quality of care.
Passions include, my four ‘children’, other people’s children, friends, travel and a lifelong love of learning which I feed with many courses in art and at the University.
My eldest, is a registered nurse, gentle and wise to the children she cares for and a favorite travel buddy. My next daughter, is a neuro-trauma rehabilitation physiotherapist. She completed her masters in Australia. I had the unforgettable experience of travelling through Australia and New Zealand with her and my youngest. She and her husband are welcoming a new baby in the fall and I’m so very excited to be a grandma! My son, has his own home exterior business, lives close by and frequents the house for home cooking and to instruct me on how to do my own home repairs, which I am slowly getting less useless with. My youngest, recently married her sweetheart and is in her 4th year of university. Each one has become wonderful adults and close friends. In keeping with my love of children, I have fostered over 40 children, many of whom I still share in their lives, years after they have returned home.
On the lighter side, I also enjoy painting, gardening, hiking, am a bit of a foodie, but I try not to do all those things at the same time and I think I could probably run a 10 minute mile if chased by a gang of well-armed hoodlums.
I’ve learned life carries with it some challenge, some tears and some incredibly amazing moments. I’m grateful for all of those things and for the wisdom that comes with experience.
I’m looking forward to reconnecting with many of you at the reunion. I hope so far, each of you is enjoying a life well lived, well learned, and that you find contentment and laughter in daily moments.
Calgary AB Community Shuttle Operator Divorced 2Well, last time I submitted a Q.E. Reunion Bio, the click of the mouse on "Submit" was still echoing when I heard the words, "We need to talk." How cliche is that? 1 1/2 years of marriage counselling (not to offend anyone but I personally found it to be a complete waste of time and MONEY), subsequent divorce and free to find out who I had become. Watched (I had to chauffeur them anyway) my two children: Alexander - Piano, Gymnastics, Fencing, Flute and Percussion with Ecole Madeline D'Houet, BCHS and Calgary Stetsons; Kathryn - Dance, Piano, Dance, Flute and Percussion with Ecole Madeline D'Houet and BCHS, did I mention dance (I've learned I can apply full makeup including false eyelashes and add a bun or ringlets under time pressure and SEW)? As for myself, I've explored my love of culinary (well, others would say I have created future diamonds if I had just added a little more heat and pressure), travelled to China on a couple of occasions, been to Vegas with D. Jepsen on a few occasions and we even met up with T. Schneider while we were there(there's a gay stranger trying to pick me up and on another occasion a memorable first and only face slap from another stranger - Danny loves to tell these tales), and annual extended family vacations. Otherwise my life is relatively unchanged. Part-time Community Shuttle Operator almost 24 years and a lifetime of managing the family's business interests. On a more solemn note, I'm sure we've all noticed the increased frequency with which we are attending funerals. We lost my Dad in July 2014 and have found myself crying along with so many of you on your losses. It is experiences like these that remind me that even though I'm single, I'm never alone (Bless you all)! On that front, yes, I've had my heart ripped out a couple of times and endured one stalker experience. Yup, happy to embrace the "divorced dad of two" status and will continue to be friend zoned for the forseeable future. Really great being contacted by so many of you since last reunion and continue to look forward to our coffees, brunches, Backgammon, walks, phone calls, texts, and e-mails. Can't wait to see what happens over the next 10 years after I click "Submit" this time... (submit I shall)!

Pic will have to come later. And yes I am coming.
Toronto ON Entrepreneur bbwinternational.com MarriedI'm sad to say I won't be able to attend this reunion. The 25th was amazing. Thanks to Dennis and the gang for making this happen for everyone.
I'm sure in your mind you're still as young as when we graduated. I think my mental age is stuck at 25. Upon graduation I didn't stray far. I went to the University of Calgary to become a special education teacher. In my last year, during my practicum, I knew that the school system and the parents would drive me insane so I chose to finish school and enter business. In 1986 I was given the incredible opportunity of becoming an ambassador for the Alberta Government at Expo '86 in Vancouver. It gave me a taste of life away from Calgary and I got the bug. As you remember, there was an oil recession in the late eighties. So after a brief stint at Big Rock Brewery and the Calgary Olympics, I packed my bags and headed East to Toronto. Brent Yakymyk had already moved there so it was nice to have a familiar face in an unfamiliar city. We roomed together until we were able to grow up and find a place of our own.
During my early working years, I realized I didn't fit into the corpoate environment. So in 1991, when the opportunity presented itself, I started up an event staffing company called BBW International Inc. with two business partners. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary. We provide front-line staff for over 1000 trade shows and events in nine cities across Canada. It's been quite a ride and it's not over yet. I love what I do and the people we get to work with. The environment is ever-changing. Sometimes I run into some of you from my past which is always a bonus.
I can't seem to find my "then" photo so if have a year book, please scan and send it to me.
Finally, if you're in my neck of the woods, do call me up. I'd love to meet up with you. Have a great reunion. I look forward to reading your stories and seeing more pictures.

Calgary AB Retired Married 1Thanks to the committee for organizing this event - much appreciated! I've loved reading the bios submitted so far and sad to see the memorials, too many for such a small graduating group like ours.
After high school I started working at the U of C, secretarial/admin work and moved out with Cindy Sheehan in the spring of '82 - lots of fun! (I miss her!).
I got married in 1985 and we moved to Med Hat and Brooks for a few years, then back to Calgary. Had the opportunity to travel alot, took up scuba diving which I loved. Had our son in 1995 and I worked part-time after that. We moved to the UK (England and Scotland) in 2000 with my husbands work and then back to Calgary in 2004. Did some travelling around the UK and Europe while we lived there which was fun.
I didn't follow the university route as many of you did, but did take some certificate/diploma courses in business, fitness and nutrition which I really enjoyed. Attempted french lessons many times, but never quite got the hang of it - likely never will!
In 1995 we bought my husband's family farm in Saskatchewan so we spend alot of time out there, very remote and quiet - I really like it there!
We have 2 adorable puppies now (loves of my life) so it's like having kid 2 and 3 now.
Look forward to catching up with everyone over the weekend.

Married 2I'm looking forward to meeting up again with those coming to our 35 year reunion in October, especially since I missed our 25th. I continue to work for The City of Calgary. I started with The City immediately after high school and have enjoyed working part-time since 1991. I can honestly say I still "enjoy" my payroll profession, even after 25 years. It is always changing which continues to keep me learning & interested. I also help my husband, Kevin run his painting & decorating company. I am thankful to have had such a great work life balance over the last 25 years. Kevin and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this year. We have two daughters, Breanne (27) and Lauren (23). Both daughers received soccer scholarships to attend university in the States. Breanne completed her degree in the States, but Lauren didn't enjoy Florida and came back to Calgary and completed her degree at U of C this past April. Both have full-time jobs and have developed into wonderful adults. I truly feel raising my daughters has been a lot of fun and my most rewarding accomplishment in life. I am now looking forward to winding down in the years ahead and spending more time with family and friends. Kevin and I have talked about possibly retiring in British Columbia or maybe just owning some lake property in B.C. Still haven't quite figured this all out, but I guess time will tell. I wish everyone health and happiness in the years ahead!
